Canary Wharf Group’s Montgomery Square up for second vote

Planning officers at Tower Hamlets Council have recommended approval for Canary Wharf Group’s revamp at Montgomery Square and Water Street, E14, for the second time.

The committee rejected plans in October to renovate the public realm, construct a retail pavilion at Montgomery Square, and fully close Water Street to create a linear plaza and public space.

The committee refused the proposals on the grounds that the road closures would adversely affect local businesses, cause traffic jams and inconvenience residents.
