Canary Wharf Group’s Montgomery Square revamp rejected

Canary Wharf Group’s proposals to revamp the public realm and build a retail pavilion at Montgomery Square and Water Street, E14, have been rejected by the planning committee at Tower Hamlets Council.

The committee refused the proposals on the grounds that road closures on Water Street would affect local businesses and cause traffic congestion, cause problems for local residents and have noise impacts.

Initially, the committee members were evenly split between approving and rejecting the proposal.
