Cadogans’ dividends bloom as retail rises

House prices in Chelsea may have fallen sharply last year but that did not stop the aristocratic family that owns 93 acres around Sloane Square and the King’s Road from more than doubling the amount it received from the estate.

The dividend paid to the Earl of Cadogan and his family rose to £58.3m, up from £20.8m, as the family prepares for a large recurring ten-year inheritance tax bill.

In 2021, Cadogan Estates will be taxed 6% of the value of its assets, currently £6.2bn.
