Bungalow building falls to lowest ever level

The number of bungalows being built has fallen to an 80-year low.

The head of the National House Building Council has said the one-storey homes are “on the critically endangered list” after builders registered just 228 new bungalows for construction between July and September this year.

The figure is a 70% fall on the same period last year, and the lowest level in the NHBC’s history.
