The expansion follows the arrival of several prominent brands at Glasgow Fort over the past year, including Rituals and Primark, along with Zara, which opened its largest store in Scotland.
Glasgow Fort’s most recent significant expansion occurred in 2015, adding 180,000 sq ft of retail space, a three-storey pavilion, a large Marks & Spencer store and a variety of restaurants and shops.
Ross McCall, retail leasing and commercialisation director at British Land, said: “It’s been an incredibly successful year at Glasgow Fort, where we have welcomed several popular national and regional brands, which has further enhanced the overall experience for our visitors.
“These expansion proposals are the next phase of our continued investment into Glasgow Fort. As such, we are looking forward to hearing the opinions of our visitors throughout the consultation period to ensure our plans are aligned.”
