British Land appoints Next chief financial officer as non-exec

British Land has appointed Next chief financial officer Amanda James as a non-executive director.

James’s new role will take effect on 1 July. She will also join BL’s audit committee.

James joined the retailer’s finance team more than 28 years ago. She was appointed CFO and board member in 2015.

James had already set out her intention to step down from Next’s board on 26 July, and retire from Next at the end of September.

Tim Score, chair of British Land, said: “Amanda brings not only deep expertise in finance, but also strong consumer, retail and multi-channel experience. Her depth of retail expertise will provide valuable insight into the needs of our customers as we continue to execute our value add strategy.”

James will also be appointed as a non-executive director of Auto Trader Group with effect from 1 July 2024 and will join its audit, remuneration, corporate responsibility and nomination committees on appointment.
