Melburg Capital has secured planning approval from Bristol City Council to turn the former South Plaza office block into a 399-bed student accommodation scheme.
The plans for 360 Bristol include leisure facilities, prayer rooms, a golf simulator and 370 bike storage spaces. The project is expected to be complete by June 2026, in time for the September academic year.
Andrew Burns, head of asset and development management at Melburg, said: “This consent is a testament to the hard work and effectiveness of our management platform. In line with our environmental agenda, we decided to reimagine this former office facility instead of demolishing it and, in doing so, expect embodied carbon emissions to be notably lower than those associated with constructing a new ultra-low energy steel-framed building. We look forward to welcoming students to this exemplary scheme for the 2026 academic year and thank Bristol City Council for their continued support.”
