Boys’ club puts women off property roles


The head of British Land has said that the Presidents Club scandal may have made it harder for property companies to employ women in senior positions from other industries.

Chris Grigg, chief executive of the second-largest listed property company in Britain, said the high number of men working in property who attended the charity dinner in January had meant a “step back” for the industry.

“If you were taking tables at the event then you knew what’s going on. And you think, ‘How can you possibly be doing this?’ ” he said. “What’s the culture that allows this to happen?”
