“BidX1 has clear aspirations to be a global market leader in digital auctions, and their successful first year in the UK market is testament to this,” said Watson. “I look forward to working with the team at BidX1 to help deliver their expansion plans and pioneer change in the way in which property auctions are run within the UK and globally.
“It is not only an exciting opportunity, but it is incredibly rewarding for any individual who is passionate about the industry that they operate in. I welcome the challenge ahead as BidX1 continues to alter the status quo of the auctions industry.”
BidX1 founder and chief executive Stephen McCarthy added: “At BidX1 we are focused on bringing the best in talent and expertise to our growing team. Both Richard and Oliver have a wealth of experience and an in-depth understanding of our industry-changing business model. At our heart we are a people business, using technology to facilitate and enhance the auction experience for our customers.
“Since we launched in the UK last year, the market has had an incredibly positive response to digital auctions and the information they provide, enabling a greater degree of informed decision-making for both vendor and purchaser. We have lit a fire under what has for a long time been a traditional and inaccessible part of the real estate industry.”
BidX1’s UK residential auction division will host its first auction of the year on 26 February. The first commercial auction of 2019 will take place on 27 February.
