Battle over in Waterloo as PPHE gets go-ahead

PPHE Hotel Group has been given the green light for a new 186-bedroom hotel in Waterloo, SE1. The consent comes after the conclusion of a public inquiry into the hotel-led mixed-use development. Under the approved plans, PPHE will develop a 15-storey design-led, mid-scale concept comprising up to 186 rooms as well as two floors of office and light industrial floorspace. The ground floor will feature and all-day dining bar and café. Proposals for the scheme at 79-87 Westminster Bridge Road, SE1, have been being worked up since 2019, when PPHE bought the site for £12m. The Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands-designed scheme is aiming for a BREEAM Excellent rating. It will be PPHE’s fifth hotel in the Waterloo area.
