Battersea Power Station chief executive quits

Simon Murphy will step down as the chief executive of the Battersea Power Station Development Company in March after 11 years working on the regeneration project.

Murphy was appointed as chief financial officer in 2012 by the Malaysian consortium that bought the development and was then promoted to deputy chief executive in 2014 and chief executive in 2018. The project opened its doors in October 2022.

Murphy said: “After working on the Battersea Power Station development for 11 years, of which the past six have been as CEO, and with construction of the first three key phases of the project now complete, substantially leased and sold, it is the right time for me to move on.

“It has been a huge honour to have played a part in delivering such a special addition to the London landscape. While there have been many challenges along the way, these have been more than eclipsed by the many remarkable highlights, such as bringing the iconic Grade II* listed building back to life after a thorough restoration.”
