Ballymore eyes 2,000 homes with co-living at Thames Road
Ballymore has lodged an EIA scoping opinion request to develop 2,000 homes at the Thames Road Industrial Estate.
Plans would see more than 2m sq ft of residential space, with a potential 400 co-living bedrooms, 110,000 sq ft of light industrial, a primary school, public park, leisure centre and commercial use.
The application to Newham Council comes 10 years after the developer worked up plans for 1,634 homes, business space and an urban beach.

The application to Newham Council comes 10 years after the developer worked up plans for 1,634 homes, business space and an urban beach.
Previous plans were bashed for the lack of affordable housing, with just 17.1% affordable homes on Strategic Industrial Land.
New proposals for the 15-acre site to the south of Thames Road would see 50% affordable housing delivered, with industrial and commercial uses on the riverside.
The site lies to the east of Ballymore’s 3,385-home Royal Wharf (pictured) on a 16-acre plot.
Ballymore will submit a hybrid application seeking outline approval for the residential and commercial uses, with detailed plans for the industrial, school, leisure centre and a small proportion of homes.
