A government plan to force owners of short-term holiday lets to apply for planning permission has been attacked by critics.
Richard Tice, head of right-wing party Reform UK, called the move a “socialist nanny state intervention” which he claimed would ultimately cost councils more money and put pressure on resources.
Tice, former chief executive of CLS Holdings, accused secretary of state Michael Gove of “intervening with the free markets” with the new proposals.
