Asda moves to hybrid working for 4,000 head office staff

Asda is to introduce a permanent hybrid working model for its 4,000 office employees once social-distancing measures lift in the UK. The supermarket chain said its offices in West Yorkshire and in Leicester will stay open, but that employees will be allowed to work from wherever best suited their role. The company said it does not expect employees to work in the office for a specific number of days, but that staff should talk to managers to “strike the right balance between home and office working, whilst ensuring this is led by the needs of the business”. “We believe this approach will help us attract and retain the best talent and will continue to position Asda as an employer of choice.” The move follows that of banks Lloyds, Barclays and HSBC, as well as call-centre operator Capita and British Gas owner Centrica, which have introduced hybrid working policies.
