Argent lodges plans for 49-storey octagonal BTR tower
Argent has submitted plans for a 49-storey build-to-rent scheme at Birmingham’s Paradise, which it claims will be the world’s first purely octagonal tower.
The 155m tower will comprise 346 rental homes designed by Glenn Howells Architects, in the latest phase of the £700m development.
It is being brought forward by Birmingham City Council in a joint venture with Federated Hermes. Argent is the development manager.

The partners unveiled plans for the first residential homes on the 17-acre site earlier this year, following continued BTR investor appetite in Birmingham.
The largest funds, including Greystar, Long Harbour, Invesco and more, have been on the hunt for city centres schemes.
Rob Groves, regional director at Argent, said: “Our ambition with Octagon continues to be a simple one – to build one of the finest apartment schemes ever seen, not just in Birmingham or the region, but in the UK.
“This ambition drives the design and execution of the building and is reflected in everything about it – the height, the size of the apartments themselves and their design, the views and the location in the city centre.”
