Architect dismayed as mansion judged unfit for Ukrainian families

An architect has described the Homes for Ukraine scheme as “administratively incompetent” after being told his south London mansion was not suitable for a refugee family.

Mike Rundell was told that his 1930s, art deco home needed significant upgrades, including alarms, which he has installed, but the local authority then failed to attend an inspection.

His is one of 35,000 applications that await processing.
