All-party group launches consultation on ‘broken housing market’
An all-party parliamentary group has launched its first formal consultation on the UK’s housing market.
The group, led by MP Ben Everitt, will investigate the challenges in housing delivery and ask how “broken” the housing market is.
This will include public oral evidence sessions in parliament in October ahead of the consultation closing in November.

Everitt said: “Successive, well-meaning policy interventions in the housing market have created a complex web of unintended consequences, leading to unnecessary delay, uncertainty and cost in the housing building process.
“We believe the government has a duty to ensure people living in the UK have decent, secure and affordable homes to live in, but we don’t believe that the government or parliament can solve this problem on its own.
“Housebuilding is a very complex process, involving many parties. The APPG will operate by forging a new network of organisations committed to this vision.”
