A&R clocks up best result in three years

  Andrews & Robertson produced its best result in three years at its first sale of 2010, raising £21m.   Demand for development sites and vacant homes in London and the Home Counties helped 70% of the 141-lot catalogue to sell.   Prices averaged at £214,000 at the 18 February auction, held at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2.   According to senior auctioneer Robin Cripp, demand for vacant lots was intense.   He said: “Viewing figures on vacant properties were ‘off the clock’ before the auction so we anticipated demand on the day.”   Some 98 properties sold on behalf of private clients and local authority vendors.   Notable sales included 78 Rodenhurst Road, SW4 (13 February, p73).   The five-bedroom detached home sold for £1.2m off an £850,000 guide.   And 105 Coleraine Road, Westcombe Park, SE3, a three-storey, detached house arranged as seven flats, made £1.1m off a £1m guide.   estelle.maxwell@estatesgazette.com
