Osborne+Co non-exec chairman steps down
Osborne+Co non-executive chairman Chris Kane has stepped down from his role.
Kane, who most recently worked on the firm’s £400m Belfast Waterside project, has quit in order to focus on writing a book about the commercial property sector.
Kane said: “This was an opportunity too good to miss. I’ve been working on the idea for some years. Belfast is one of a number of projects I’ve worked on during my career, but my main passion is [consultancy] Six Ideas, which I set up [in 2017] to challenge and understand the workplace.”

Kane spent nearly two and a half years at Osborne+Co, which rebranded last year as part of a restructuring process. Formerly Vanguard Real Estate, the new entity is led by founding directors Jim Osborne and Conor Osborne.
Prior to joining Osborne+Co, Kane worked for the BBC as head of corporate real estate for nine years before taking on a role in 2012 as chief executive of BBC Commercial Projects, a division set up to focus on the value of the Television Centre disposal.
Previously, Kane spent 12 years at JLL, becoming a partner at Jones Lang Wootton, as it was then known, in 1991.
A spokesperson for Osborne+Co said: “Chris has worked on the Waterside project for two years, helping local stakeholders understand its true value to the city of Belfast and to facilitate a key part of the journey in realising its vision through placemaking.
“Now that masterplan approval has been granted, Chris is moving onto other projects in the short-term, as the Waterside project moves into the construction phase for the next six to nine months.
“Site remediation and infrastructure works are the primary focus, and Tom Hamilton will be the man on the ground in this regard. Chris is returning to his company Six Ideas to manage key projects there, and is finishing a book.”
