The Gym Group has added 18 new sites to its estate over the past year, taking it to 165 locations. It opened eight of these gyms in the first half of 2019.
It now has a 24% share of the gym market and said in a pre-close trading update that it was on track to open 15-20 standard size gyms in 2019 plus a first small box gym towards the end of the year.
The low-cost gym operator added that its total membership numbers at 30 June 2019 stood at 796,000, an increase of 76,000 since June 2018.
