Pret a Manger buys EAT and plans convert stores into ‘Veggie Prets’

Pret A Manger has agreed to buy rival sandwich and coffee chain Eat as it prepares to ramp up its assault on the vegetarian and vegan food-to-go market.

The deal comes amid a fiercely competitive casual dining market and rising consumer demand for the growing vegetarian and vegan market.

Eat’s 94 shops will be rebranded under the “Veggie Pret” name. No sale price was disclosed.
