LISTEN: In 2013, CBRE took on 11 apprentices in a new industry initiative. Those apprentices have now qualified as surveyors – among them Nick Jones, at the time an 18-year-old with a passion for property. He was unsure about going to university, and the apprenticeship was for him the perfect entry point into the profession.
In this episode of Bricks and Mortar, he talks to EG about why it was the right move for him, how the scheme works in practice, the support he received to balance the day-to-day demands of the job with studying and how he found his way into his current position within the firm.
Most importantly, he gives his thoughts on the advantages of the apprenticeship scheme over the graduate route and provides practical advice to all those considering applying for it.
