Plans approved for £60m scheme at former tobacco site
Henry Boot Developments has had plans approved for a £60m redevelopment at the former Imperial Tobacco site in Nottingham.
HBD submitted plans in August after purchasing the 48-acre site last summer. It was previously home to Imperial Tobacco’s UK production and distribution from the late 1960s until its sale in 2016.
The New Horizon scheme will span 28 acres and deliver up to 500,000 sq ft of industrial and logistics space for a variety of uses, including a car dealership to complement the neighbouring Aston Martin facility.

HBD submitted plans in August after purchasing the 48-acre site last summer. It was previously home to Imperial Tobacco’s UK production and distribution from the late 1960s until its sale in 2016.

HBD has completed extensive works to improve the retained distribution warehouse, provide new car parking, a new vehicle entrance and heating plant utilities to separate the warehouse from the soon-to-be demolished Horizon building.
Justin Sheldon, regional manager at HBD, said: “This site was of huge significance to the city. It’s great to see it being brought back into use, particularly given its potential to create hundreds of new jobs.
“Our investment in the site will be significant so we are committed to creating a scheme that delivers real, long-term benefit to the regional economy.”
