Portman Estate completes Seymour Street scheme 

The Portman Estate has completed works on 1-9 Seymour Street, W1, in its largest development to date. The seven-story, 78,500 sq ft scheme, designed by Eric Parry Architects, occupies the site of the former Marylebone police station. The scheme features grade A office space over five floors, a restaurant on the ground floor and 21,200 sq ft of educational premises, as well as 24 boutique apartments, which were all pre-sold.  The office space at 7 Seymour Street is fully leased. Oliver Fenn-Smith, chief executive of The Portman Estate, said: “The completion of 1-9 Seymour Street marks a major milestone for the estate.   “The delivery of our most significant direct development forms an essential part of our long-term plan to reinvest and rejuvenate our assets in Marylebone.” The redevelopment of the former police station, a 1970s building, forms part of the estate’s ten-year strategy of reinvesting an estimated £350m in its assets to ensure long-term growth. Since 2002, the estate has directly invested an average of £20m per year throughout the area. This has included the regeneration of its independent retail streets Seymour Place, New Quebec Street and Chiltern Street, and the introduction of extensively renovated hotels: the Zetter Townhouse and Z at Gloucester Place.
