Osborne and Co submits Glasgow plans
UK developer Osborne and Co, formerly Vanguard Real Estate, has submitted a planning application for a 283,000 sq ft office development in Glasgow.
Osborne plans to invest £95m in the Argyle Street site, originally the location of the proposed 25-storey Jumeirah Hotel.
The vendor of the Glasgow site, Singapore property company Scotsbridge, is led in Glasgow by entrepreneur Shazad Bakhsh, who played a central role in assembling the site and retains a minority share in the site ownership.

Will Hean, development director (Scotland), Osborne and Co, said: “Following positive consultation with Glasgow City Council planners, Historic Environment Scotland and the local community, we are pleased to formally lodge our detailed planning application with which we aim to begin the process of a major transformation of Glasgow’s best undeveloped city site.”
The application involves the demolition of a Grade B listed building, which, after extensive surveys, was found to be beyond repair.
Osborne and Co took on its new name in September as part of a restructuring process.
The UK business now operates under the same umbrella as its Middle Eastern partnership, Gulf Resources Development and Investment (GRDI), which recently completed HSBC’s new 650,000 sq ft headquarters in Dubai.
Vanguard had operated as a jv between GRDI, property professional Jim Kelly, and UK logistics developer Graftongate. Kelly and Graftongate are now involved on a project-by-project basis.
