One of his key responsibilities will be overseeing the development of Barings’ first speculative development in continental Europe, a 185,000 sq ft office at Budapester Strasse, Berlin. He will also be responsible for the development of a follow-up management strategy for developed assets.
Charles Weeks, head of real estate Europe at Barings Real Estate Advisers, said: “The acquisition of Budapester Strasse, a development project in continental Europe, reflects our confidence in the Berlin office market and our extensive platform in Germany. With Stephan’s broad ranging expertise and experience in Europe, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, we look forward to unlocking the potential of transitional as well as development projects across European markets.”
Weber added: “This is an exciting time to join Barings, and I look forward to working with the real estate team to help deliver key projects and realise the value in the firm’s development and transitional portfolio.”
