The claimant contractor appointed the defendant engineer in connection with works that it was carrying out to a property in Clapham. The defendant’s design included the underpinning of an existing gable wall shared with an adjoining property. The claimant alleged that the design was defective and that the underpinning had caused damage to the party wall, delaying the project. It brought a claim for damages against the defendant.
