Westfield has been given planning consent by the London Legacy Development Corporation for two new office buildings adjacent to its shopping mall in Stratford, E20.
The Australian retail giant is increasingly looking to incorporate a mixture of uses into its developments in order to create a more holistic feel and further drive footfall.
The two new buildings will provide a total of 846,233 sq ft of space across 14 storeys.
The plans lie to the south-west of the site on a plot known as M7, in between a John Lewis store and the Cherry Park site, where Westfield was granted consent in December last year for a new anchor store and 1,224 private rented homes.
It has been a busy few weeks for Westfield.
Just last month the shopping centre giant submitted plans for an extra 156,000 sq ft of retail at the Stratford site.
The extra space will be created through the change of use of the existing car park beneath the shopping centre. The car park itself will go even further underground, with over 200,000 sq ft of space to be excavated to make way for the new retail space, which is expected to provide 75 more units.
With over 300 retailers already occupying space within Stratford City, who will Westfield target for take-up?
The following 20 retailers are tenants within Westfield’s White City mall, but are not in Stratford. Could they be tempted to move east?
