Newham Council has granted full planning permission for the redevelopment of Silvertown on the Royal Docks, E16, to the Silvertown Partnership.
The 62-acre site is owned by Greater London Authority. Plans were approved by Boris Johnson last year, although planning is only now official with the signing of a section 106 agreement.
Under the agreement, 1,050 of the 3,000 homes will be affordable. Some will be set at 50% of market rent while others will be offered though shared ownership.
The Silvertown Partnership is made up of Chelsfield Properties, First Base and Macquarie Capital. The scheme will include more than 50 commercial buildings for offices and showrooms, creating 21,000 jobs.
Ken Clark, Newham Council’s cabinet member for building communities, public affairs and regeneration and planning, said: “Newham Council granted planning permission for this development as we believe it will aid the transformation of the Royal Docks. We look forward to working with the Silvertown Partnership and the GLA to bring additional homes to the borough as well as jobs and opportunities for our residents.”
