Pepe Jeans picks up Regent Street plot

Pepe Jeans has agreed a deal for a new London flagship store on Regent Street, W1. The denim brand is opening a 1,500 sq ft shop at 59-61 Regent Street on a 10-year lease and will pay £700,000 pa rent. The two shops, owned by Standard Life and currently occupied by shirt retailer Hawes & Curtis and clothes shop Excellence of London, will be reconfigured into one unit set to open in the autumn. It is the first time Pepe Jeans has had a presence on the world-famous London shopping street. The retailer is one of many fashion brands looking to secure a place on Regent Street for their London flagships. Michael Kors recently opened a 15,000 sq ft shop at 179 Regent Street – its largest in Europe. Austin Reed’s former flagship at 100 Regent Street is currently being circled by international retailers hoping to move into the 23,500 sq ft site as its lease is being sold to fund manager Hermes.
