Montagu Evans appointed on Scotland’s first Center Parcs site
Montagu Evans has been appointed as planning agent for Brookfield-owned Center Parcs’ first site in Scotland.
The holiday park, near Hawick in the Scottish Borders, is set to be developed with an estimated investment of £350m–£400m and has the potential to create up to 1,200 jobs.
The proposals are in the early stages, with a view to submitting an application in 2025 for around 700 lodges.

Andrew Munnis, planning partner at Montagu Evans’ Edinburgh office, said in a social media post: “This is a well-located site, with great potential for a new leisure destination. As part of Center Parcs’ investment, hundreds of local jobs will be created during the construction process as well as around 1,200 permanent roles when the site is up and running. At the same time, there is scope for creating new woodland, planting thousands of new trees and delivering significant biodiversity net gain.
“We are now supporting Center Parcs in undertaking a thorough programme of pre-application activity before a submission next year.”
Center Parcs has been operating in the UK since 1987 and today has six sites across UK and Ireland.
Last year, Brookfield listed Center Parcs for sale with a £5bn price tag. However, the highest bids were reported to come in at approximately £3.7bn, prompting the company to withdraw its sale plans.
