Former Birmingham council chief Cadman takes consultancy role

Deborah Cadman, the former chief executive of Birmingham City Council, has joined consultancy Newtrality as an adviser. Newtrality, clients of which include West Sussex County Council, Gloucestershire County Council and Barnet Council, said Cadman will help it “meet the emerging requirements of this government while delivering for the public”. Newtrality partner Ben Ward said: “Deborah has been a huge advocate for disadvantaged communities and really understands the complexity of the challenges which this country faces. With her support, I am excited about the next chapter of Newtrality’s journey and our continued growth.” Cadman said: “I am delighted to join Newtrality. Their intricate knowledge of the public sector and practical solutions to complex problems are just what is needed right now and I am excited to play a part in their journey. For me, values and ethics are at the heart of everything we do and I feel these are very well aligned as we progress together with innovative solutions borne out of decades of experience.” Cadman stepped down from her role in Birmingham in March in the wake of the council issuing a section 114 notice last year, effectively declaring bankruptcy.
