Historic England seeks offers for former Manchester manor house
Historic England has appointed Colliers to put Baguley Hall in Wythenshawe, South Manchester, up for sale.
The former manor house, which dates to the late 13th century, is currently vacant.
Historic England has recently completed repair works to assist future occupiers. In addition, the public body has appointed conservation architect Thomas Ford & Partners to prepare indicative plans, with cost estimates, for several uses, subject to planning. These include a food-based pub, boutique hotel and an events centre.

Catherine Dewar, North West regional director at Historic England, said: “Baguley Hall is a South Manchester historic gem. Standing for nearly 900 years, it boasts the hall with tall, mullioned windows and unusual timber frame.”
Will Tait, associate director at Colliers, said: “Historic England is seeking to transfer the freehold or a long leasehold to a company that will restore and operate the building in a sympathetic way, in keeping with its Grade I listing, and will enable the public to access it on at least an occasional basis.”
Offers are sought to buy the freehold or a leasehold. The sale process is expected to be handled in two stages: the first is eliciting expressions of interest; the second will, assuming there are expressions of interest from credible companies, enable the new owners to conduct more detailed analysis before preparing an offer.
