Tritax Symmetry gets deal for Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange

Maritime Transport will develop, lease and operate Tritax Symmetry’s £750m strategic rail freight interchange in Hinckley, Leicestershire.

The new terminal, which will sit alongside 7m sq ft of warehouse facilities, will strengthen rail freight connections between the Midlands and Felixstowe, Liverpool, London Gateway, Southampton, Teesport and Mossend, serving Scotland.

The 40-acre scheme is expected to be able to handle 16 trains per day when fully operational. At full capacity, the interchange will remove more than 83m HGV miles from the UK road network, saving around 70,120 tonnes of CO2 each year.
