Godwin acquires Places for People’s former paper factory site

Godwin Developments has acquired Places for People’s Dove Lane scheme, with planning consent for 358 homes.
The 4.3-acre former paper factory site will provide five blocks ranging from four to 10 storeys and 7,200 sq ft of commercial space.
Places for People received planning permission for the mixed-use scheme in October 2022.
The site will provide 358 one-to-three-bedroom homes of which 72 will be affordable, of which 54 will be available for social rent and 18 will be discounted to first-time buyers.
Godwin plans to work closely with Places for People and build on the design, community and stakeholder engagement work already undertaken by them in the next stages of the development.
Simon Boreham, managing director of residential development at Godwin, said: “Bristol is a city which is currently experiencing an enormous shortage of homes across all tenures and urgently needs to deliver additional stock to meet the needs of people across all life stages and incomes.
“This brownfield site presents a major opportunity to optimise the limited developable space in central Bristol to create new thriving residential communities that integrate well into the local context and deliver green spaces to tackle the climate emergency.”
