Sainsbury’s to ‘right-size’ stores and cut £1bn in costs

Sainsbury’s has confirmed plans to “right-size” the company while cutting £1bn in costs over the next three years.

The expansion of the “food-first” plan launched in 2020 will see the supermarket group running the rule over its entire estate.

Plans include expanding the food space within stores, shutting more stand-alone Argos stores, and adding 75 convenience stores to its 800-strong estate.
