A draft masterplan has been revealed for a £250m mixed-use residential neighbourhood to the west of Stockport town centre.
Stockport 8 will be delivered by Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation and the English Cities Fund. ECF is a joint venture between Homes England, Muse and Legal & General.
It forms part of a wider £1bn investment expected to be delivered across the town centre over the next decade. The wider 130-acre Stockport MDC masterplan will see the delivery of 4,000 homes, alongside local amenities, green spaces, workspace and transport improvements.

The new neighbourhood will sit on eight acres of land either side of King Street West and next to the railway viaduct.
The draft plans include up to 1,200 new homes alongside space for local businesses, start-ups and community facilities.
Also included in the plans are outdoor and green spaces, as well as public spaces around the Stockport viaduct that can host markets, food festivals and events.
Joe Stockton, senior development manager at Muse, said: “We want to design a thriving, inclusive neighbourhood that will deliver the needs of the community now, and for generations to come, and that has Stockport’s independent spirit and character at its core.”
The jv is seeking feedback from the community until February 6. A second community conversation is planned for summer, with a planning application expected to be submitted to Stockport Council expected in autumn.
