Sama Investment Group plans 238-bed Birmingham PBSA scheme
Sama Investment Group has submitted plans to Birmingham City Council for the development of a 238-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme.
The proposed development is located on the former Hawkers Yard site, located off Pershore Street adjacent to the Arcadian shopping and leisure complex.
The plans comprise a 15-storey tower including 150 studio apartments and 11 sets of cluster flats, each of which consists of eight en suite rooms and shared kitchen and living space.

The scheme also includes amenities such as 5,300 sq ft of internal amenity space provided at various levels, 86 cycle parking spaces and 18 motorcycle parking spaces.
The planning statement said: “A recent study by CBRE has shown that In Birmingham demand for PBSA beds currently stands at 43,570.
“However, with an existing supply of 25,052 beds, including private and university-owned accommodation, and a pipeline of just 6,324 beds, the city is facing a shortage of 12,194 beds.”
