The level of mortgages in arrears has risen to a six-year high.
Data from the Bank of England showed total arrears balances as a percentage of all outstanding mortgages rose from 1.02% in Q2 to 1.14% in Q3.
That was the highest since the second quarter of 2017, according to the bank, which found that the value of mortgage balances with arrears reached £18.8bn in the three months to the end of September, up 11.4% quarter-on-quarter and 44% higher than a year earlier.
