Crumbling hospitals will close before new ones are built, say MPs

Crumbling hospitals will close before replacements are ready, MPs have said in a highly critical report.

Ministers promised 40 new hospitals by 2030, but the Commons’ public accounts committee said it had “no confidence” that they would be built.

The committee’s report on the new hospitals programme said a failure to speed up the rebuilding of seven hospitals constructed entirely of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete would lead to some having to close before their replacements are completed.
