Rowley returns as housing minister
Lee Rowley has returned to the post of housing minister, following the firing of Rachel Maclean.
In a reshuffle notable for its returns, with former prime minister David Cameron becoming foreign secretary, Rowley has become the only housing minister in living memory to return to the post.
Rowley previously served in the role for just a month and a half, between 8 September and 26 October 2022. He was, until now perhaps, the shortest-serving MP to hold the position.

Since leaving the role of housing and planning minister, Rowley has remained within the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, with the role of local government minister.
The move makes him the 16th MP to hold the post since 2010, as well as having been the 13th, way back in 2022.
His role as local government minister has been taken by North Dorset MP Simon Hoare.
