Dunelm to take former Wilko stores in expansion drive

Dunelm expects to acquire a number of former Wilko sites as it doubles the rate of its store opening plans.

Chief executive Nick Wilkinson said the FTSE 250 company had looked at some of the Wilko stores that will soon “end up with a Dunelm above the door”.

The Leicester-based homeware retailer, which has 180 branches, expects to open between five and 10 branches in each of the next two years. That is up from the three to five average over the past five years. Upcoming launches include taking space at the former John Lewis store in Watford.
