Police in southern China have detained staff at the wealth management arm of China Evergrande.
In the latest turmoil to hit the property company, Shenzhen city police said over the weekend: “Recently, public security organs took criminal compulsory measures against Du and other suspected criminals at Evergrande Financial Wealth Management Co.”
The identity of the individual named was unclear but during protests by investors at Evergrande’s Shenzhen headquarters in 2021 Du Liang was reportedly identified by staff as general manager and legal representative of the wealth management unit.
