UBX enters the ring with plans for 250 UK boxing gyms

An Australian boxing fitness club chain has stepped into the UK arena with hopes to open 250 UK clubs in the next six to eight years. UBX, founded by Australian former world boxing champion Danny Green, has signed Empowered Brands, based in Milton Keynes, as its master franchise partner and will open the first site on Thursday (30 March) in MediaCity, Salford. The next six confirmed clubs are expected to open their doors before the end of September. It is an increasingly crowded market. Last week Marnie Swindells won the BBC’s The Apprentice, securing £250,000 from Lord Sugar to invest in her Bronx boxing gym business. The Times (£)
