The government is set to miss its electric vehicle charger target by 20 years, Labour has claimed.
Ministers pledged to install 300,000 new chargers by 2030, but fewer than 9,000 were installed last year. Labour has accused the government of being “asleep at the wheel”.
There are now 30 electric vehicles for every charge point, compared with 16 at the start of 2020. There are currently just 37,055 chargers live across the UK, according to Department for Transport figures, with more than 1.3m plug-in cars on the roads.
