Heaton reels in consent for mill conversion

Plans to transform a Grade II listed mill into a food hall and offices in Wigan, Greater Manchester, have been given the go-ahead.

Heaton Group’s development forms the first phase of its £200m Eckersley Mills scheme, spread over 17 acres. It was previously a cotton-spinning site and contains a group of buildings that were built between 1883 and 1920.

Under the plan, Heaton will carry out a conversion of Mill One into an 80,000 sq ft complex, comprising a 22,000 sq ft food hall on the ground floor and offices on the upper three floors, including Heaton’s headquarters.
