The prime minister is planning to cave in to a backbench revolt over wind farms that threatens to derail the Levelling Up Bill.
Rishi Sunak is attempting to find a compromise over onshore wind, which will head off a Tory rebellion led by former levelling up secretary Simon Clarke and backed by former prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
However, he is having to tread carefully to avoid sparking a counter-rebellion from other MPs opposed to onshore wind.
