Jeremy Corbyn could stand as an independent against Labour’s Sadiq Khan to be mayor of London.
The former Labour leader has represented Islington North since 1983. However, he is barred from standing there again for the party after saying antisemitism in the party on his watch was exaggerated.
Allies of Corbyn say “plenty of people” are urging him to run for mayor in 2024.
