Stamp duty receipts hit record high

Stamp duty receipts reached a record high last quarter, with £3.6bn handed over to the Treasury.

The figure beat the previous record – set in Q2 – by 21%.

However, receipts are expected to plunge, partly due to the doubling of the threshold at which the tax is paid, but also due to the cooling housing market.
