The UK needs more than 3,000 retirement villages to be built, according to research by BNP Paribas Real Estate.
The firm said there was a shortfall of more than 487,000 homes for pensioners and, assuming there are 150 units per scheme, about 3,245 retirement living communities were needed.
BNP PRE said the shortage was a “cause for alarm”.
